This is an invitation to our community to participate in NATIONAL CHARITY LEAGUE’S USS MIDWAY LEGACY WEEK event co-sponsored by the Del Sol Chapter on behalf of the YMCA Armed Services.
HELP CREATE HISTORY!!!
The Del Sol Chapter of the National Charity League is coordinating the 2008 Operation Boot Camp on behalf of and in collaboration with The USS MIDWAY and The YMCA Armed Services, and we need your help!
WHAT: We are going to send 3000 care packages and cards to members of all 5 branches of the service who are deployed overseas! This event is spearheaded as the finale during the USS Midway’s Legacy Week. NCL is an organization that is devoted to passing the tradition of philanthropy and community service from mother to daughter through dedicated and focused volunteerism.
This event is being co-chaired by Lara Bagby and her daughter, Desiree. All of the Moms and daughters in the Del Sol Chapter are participating!
WHO: At NCL Del Sol, we serve and empower and you can help.
HOW:
a) Collect goods (see the list on Desiree’s MYSPACE Page for the YMCA Armed services) www.myspace.com/ncl_midway and drop them off at the USS Midway or at the YMCA Armed Services Division. Here are the links: www.militaryymca.com and www.midway.org
b) Write cards and thank you notes (with your children and grandchildren if you have them) to the troops that we can place into the care packages we are creating; mail them to the YMCA.
c) Make a donation to sponsor a soldier’s care package. The YMCA needs postage money to make this happen. Log into the www.militaryymca.com and use a credit card. Make sure you declare that your donation is to go to the Midway Event.
d) Come on May 31st and help us put the packages together while also touring the MIDWAY. This is a Family Event!
